A Summer family Quilt Pattern


Instructions For This Pattern:

This quilt will be composed of 9 blocks that measure 12″x12″ each, for a total quilt size of 72″x90″. The fabric used is yellow and purple. The quilt blocks will include a combination of half square triangles, flying geese and 9-patch blocks.

Half Square Triangles:

Cut 4 purple squares and 4 yellow squares that measure 6.5″x6.5″.

On the wrong side of each of the purple squares, draw a diagonal line from one corner to another.

Layer one purple square and one yellow square, right sides together.

Sew a 1/4″ seam on either side of the drawn line.

Cut the squares apart on the drawn line.

Press the seams open.

Trim the half square triangles to 5.5″x5.5″.

Repeat the process to make 8 half square triangles.

Flying Geese:

Cut one purple square that measures 4.5”x4.5” and two yellow squares that measure 3.5”x3.5”.
