Sailing Quilt Pattern by Marilyn Hoffman

A Sailing Quilt Pattern

Instructions For This Pattern:

The Sailing Quilt Pattern is a beautiful quilt comprised of 48 blocks, arranged in 12 columns of 4 blocks each. The blocks measure 8″ x 8″ and feature curved shapes and deep colors. This pattern is perfect for Kaffe Fassett fabric, using 3 different prints in each block.

The background and accent colors of the quilt will both be two shades of the same color. The two darkest colors will be used for the background, while the lighter color will be used for the curves. This will give the quilt an interesting contrast between the background and the curves.

To begin, cut 48 squares of 8″ x 8″ of the background colors. Then, cut 24 squares of 8″ x 8″ of the lighter color for the curves.

Next, arrange the squares in 12 columns of 4 blocks each. Make sure to arrange the blocks in a symmetrical fashion, with each block having a mirrored block in the opposite corner.

Once the blocks are arranged, begin piecing the blocks. Start by piecing the background colors together, then add the lighter colored curves. The curves should be pieced together in an arc, creating a curved shape.

Next, add the Kaffe Fass
