This quilt pattern is perfect for a beginner quilter. It is simple and straightforward, yet still eye-catching. The finished quilt will measure 6’x10′ when completed.

Begin by selecting 4 different colors of batiks. Cut (3) 20″ x 20″ squares from each color of the batiks. Sew (2) 20″ x 10″ strips from each color together end to end to create (12) 10″ x 6′ strips. Cut the strips into (24) 10″ x 20″ blocks.

Arrange the blocks in a symmetrical pattern of (2) red, (2) orange, (2) yellow, and (2) brown blocks, alternating the colors every other row. Sew the blocks together in rows, and then sew the rows together, making sure to line up the seams.

For the final step, add a 4″ border of each color to the outside of the quilt, making sure to line up the corners. This will give the quilt a finished look and add some stability.
