Materials:
– 8 fat quarters of batik fabric in colors of gold, navy, rust, and white
– Batting and backing fabric
– Thread

Finished size: 48″ x 48″

Instructions:

1. Cut the fabric into the following pieces:
– 8 rectangles measuring 12″ x 12″ (4 gold, 2 navy, 2 rust)
– 8 rectangles measuring 8″ x 8″ (4 gold, 2 navy, 2 rust)
– 8 squares measuring 4″ x 4″ (4 white, 2 gold, 2 navy)
– 8 rectangles measuring 2″ x 8″ (4 navy, 4 rust)

2. Sew the half-square triangles (HSTs):
– Layer one 8″ gold rectangle with one 8″ navy rectangle right sides together.
– Draw a line diagonally from one corner to the other.
– Sew a 1/4″ seam on each side of the line.
– Cut along the drawn line.
– Press the seam open.
– Repeat with the remaining gold and navy rectangles to make 4 HST
