Fall Quilt Pattern by Laura Barker

A Fall Quilt Pattern

Instructions For This Pattern:

Quilting is a craft that dates back centuries, and is still popular today. To create the following quilt pattern, you will need 12 12” fabric squares each in five different colors: orange, purple, green, brown and magenta.

To begin, sew two squares together of the same color, creating six pairs. Then, sew these pairs together, alternating colors. From the resulting six-strip set, cut two 12” squares and two 12”x6” rectangles. Arrange these eight pieces into a four-patch square pattern, with the 12” squares in the four corners and the rectangles in the center.

Sew the blocks together, alternating colors, in a 4×4 grid to form the top of the quilt. To complete the quilt, use a coordinating fabric for the backing and batting.

The finished quilt will measure 48”x48”. The four-patch blocks will measure 12”x12”, with the 12” squares in the four corners and the 12”x6” rectangles in the center. Each of the five colors will occupy an equal portion of the quilt top.
