Modern Southwest Quilt Pattern by Lauren Thul

A Modern Southwest Quilt Pattern

Instructions For This Pattern:

Start with a beige 12″ square for the center block. This is the main focal point of the quilt, so take care to choose a block with a pattern that stands out.

Surround it with four 7″ half-square triangles of beige and tan. To make these, cut two 7″ squares of beige and two 7″ squares of tan. Draw a diagonal line across each beige square and a diagonal line across each tan square. Place a beige square and a tan square right sides together and sew a 1/4″ seam on each side of the diagonal line. Cut on the diagonal line to create two half-square triangles. Repeat with the remaining squares.

Now, add four 7″ square blocks of cream and tan arranged around the center block. These should be arranged so that the tan squares form a diamond pattern around the center block.

Sew four 7″ square blocks of cream and beige to each side of the center block. Again, arrange these so that the beige squares form a diamond pattern on each side of the center block.

Next, add four 6″ half-square triangles of beige and tan to each corner. To make these, cut two 6″ squares
